Meredith's Baptism

Meredith was baptized on Sunday, March 18--not quite two weeks ago. It was a wonderful day! Grandmommy and Granddaddy Skabelund came from Albuquerque for the special event, and Aunt Cindy and Haley and Megan came down from Olathe as well.

With my girls, I have enjoyed the special time in the dressing room before and after their baptisms. I found it a good opportunity to talk with them about their big day and to gift them small, symbolic gifts. Like with Sophia, I gave Meredith some special white and crystal jewelry to commemorate the day, and a white towel on which I sewed some lace to make it special:

Here is Meredith and her dad just after the baptism.

Aidan wanted to see the water in the font from the backside:

As we towel-dried Meredith's hair in the dressing room, she said to me: "I feel clean and pure!"

Here she is, still clean and pure, in her baptism dress on our front porch:

Among other things, for refreshments, we had cream puffs, BYU-catering-style ham-and-cheese sandwiches, Camie's fruit dip, and Skittles (a remnant from the days when Joe Baird lived near!)

Wow! I can't believe Meredith is already 8. She looks so grown up. I still can envision her clinging to you in Primary as a Sunbeam. Time flies!

Congratulations Meredith!!! You look great!!
What fabulous ideas you have, Alyson, to make her day a memorable and special one. We may have to steal some for Leslie's baptism in July.

Wow--I remember Sophie's baptism well and it doesn't feel very long ago! It sounds like you had a wonderful baptism day and made it really special for her. What are the BYU catering ham/cheese sandwiches?? This sounds like something I need to know about. And I'm glad you're using the famous fruit dip--I feel like I was there!

Those are wonderful and fun baptism pictures! Congratulations to Meredith. I still can't believe she's eight, though. :)

I also can't believe she's 8. It was just yesterday that I was her CTR 5 teacher. I also love the pics of Aidan cooking and cleaning!
